DFB Cup winners 1995: Gladbach’s last national title, as of December 2019, came in 1995. Bernd Krauss’s team, featuring stars such as Effenberg, Pflipsen, Andersson and Dahlin, beat then-second-tier VfL Wolfsburg 3:0 in a rather one-sided final. Dahlin scored in the 14th minute, Effenberg in the 61st, Herrlich in the 86th. In the semifinal Gladbach edged Kaiserslautern 1:0 after extra time; in the quarterfinal they had beaten Schalke 3:2. Only in the first two rounds were they forced to play away, in Greifswald and Offenbach.
