The cult venue: Gladbach’s cult venue, the Bökelberg, was turned back into a football stadium by the British occupiers after the war. Before that it had briefly served as a tank workshop and had been heavily damaged in the Second World War. The club bought the site in 1914, when it was still known as “dä Kull” because it had previously been a gravel pit.\n\nFrom December 2005 onward the stadium was demolished.

The first attempt to blow up the main stand in March 2006 failed. Today a housing estate stands on the site, but the contours of the old terraces remain visible and a memorial has stood there since December 2019.
